Shroom Siege now has Networking!

Greetings Shroom Siege fans! We are excited to announce some new updates regarding the development of our game.

Netcode for Gameobjects in Unity: We have successfully integrated Netcode for Gameobjects in Unity to enable networking in the game. This allows players to join and host 4v4 matches over the internet. We have been working hard to ensure that the multiplayer experience is as smooth and seamless as possible.

Unity Game Services Backend: We have chosen to use Unity Game Services as our backend. This allows us to focus more on the gameplay and features of the game rather than the server infrastructure. The Unity Game Services will enable us to scale our server infrastructure as needed and we can easily add features such as leaderboards and achievements.

WebGL Support: Unfortunately, we were not able to get WebGL to build as Unity has not added support for that yet. However, we are exploring alternative solutions to ensure that players can access our game through their web browsers.

Self-Hosting: Currently, everything is self-hosted, but we are actively exploring the possibility of using Unity Services Dedicated Servers and Matchmaking Services. This will allow us to focus more on the gameplay and less on the server infrastructure.

Overall, we are very excited about the progress we have made with Shroom Siege. We are committed to creating an engaging and enjoyable experience for our players. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
